First up, apologies that I’ve not been as active as you might expect recently. Work has been manically busy, and I’ve had some personal stuff going on… there should be a release this week (see below for details) but it might be more towards mid week than the start of the week.
Anyway, enough of that, here’s what I’ve been working on / what’s coming in the next couple of weeks:

So this week I ran into a wonderful problem while working on jNag, namely how to connect to servers over SSL using phonegap (which jNag relies heavily on).
Phonegap is a wrapper around Android’s native webview class so (I thought!) the answer lay in somehow getting the webview to accept a self signed certificate.

Due to being ridiculously busy at work (Working on a VB6 application. Yes really.) There won’t be an update this week. However, in the next week or two you should see some good stuff coming including (but not limited to)
- An iPhone app! (finally)
- Working SSL support in the android apps (even with self signed certs!!)
- Colour coded problems (yellow for soft alerts, red for hard)

Forum member paradoxni sent in the following image of jNag being used to monitor 2 hosting centers in the UK.
If you have any other pictures, or tales of how you use jNag email them to me so I have something interesting to post on the front page!
Also, if you have the android app, feel free to review it in the market and let others know how you feel about it.

A minor update for the Android (paid and free) and web clients. Nothing major has changed, I really haven’t had much time to work on jNag recently, but there’s a couple of bugfixes:
Finally had a spare hour to play with xCode on my Mac today, and managed to get a jNag app up and running on the iPhone simulator. Follow the jump for a screenshot and some more info….

Just a quick rundown of what’s going on with jNag this week. And a strange picture, which does actually have some context later on, so you should probably click the read more link if you’re wondering what that’s all about.
A flying pig. Why? Intrigued? read on....

This release marks a bit of a change in how I push out updates. I’ve split off the client and server portions of the standard distribution, so from now on you only have to update the server bit when there’s an actual update.
I’ve also added a ‘downloads’ page to the site so you can always get the latest version.

Just a couple of screenshots from the new version of the (Paid) android app I’m planning on releasing tomorrow, showcasing the new ‘notifications’ and ‘Service’ features.

Yesterday I posted that I was working on a few things, one of which was an android widget for the paid version of the android app. Sorry if this annoys anyone using the free version, but I felt some sort of ‘thank you’ was needed for people willing to fork out the princely sum of £2 to use jNag. Anyway, I had a couple of hours free this evening….
