Just a quick note to waffle about stuff I’ve got in the pipeline (android widget?), and generally how things are going.
There seems to have been a bit of a spike in downloads of the android app recently, I’m about to break the 500 downloads mark… which is good I think. The paid app has been a little slower in uptake, I’m now up to 9 total downloads, with 6 active users. Thanks to you, whoever you are.
In the next couple of weeks I’m going to add more features to the paid app that won’t be present in the free one, as a thank you to people who are forking over cash for the app. The first of these features will be a homescreen widget, showing the status of your hosts / services on your homescreen.
I should be getting a MacBook pro this week (from work, they’re a bit out of my price range for a personal laptop!) so I can start working on the iPhone app…and then try and find the money to join the Apple developer program. Hopefully I should be able to get an iPhone app out at the end of the month (payday!) unless of course I manage to sell 50 or so copies of the paid Android app to cover costs between now and then.
At some point in the near future, after the iPhone app I’m going to start work on a Blackberry app but, to be honest, the blackberry development platform is a bit of a mess. The SDK for phone apps doesn’t support building apps for the Blackberry playbook for a start, so there’s 2 completely seperate platforms to develop for, and then there’s something called Web widgets or something which I haven’t even read up on. And even disregarding all that, I don’t even know how many people have Blackberries any more. Is it a dying platform?
The only feature planned for all platforms in the next release (on monday) is the ability to ignore alerts on hosts / services that have notifications disabled as requested here.
And I think that’s about it…
